What is the difference between PS5 and PS4 controllers?

What is the difference between PS5 and PS4 controllers?

Sony Entertainment company finally introduced for the first time a stick or controller for their nextgen console, PlayStation 5.

Called Dualense, this PS5 stick has a lot of significant changes compared to the previous PlayStation controller design.

Changes also occur in terms of hardware.

Until the appointed time, Sony still refused to show the design of the PlayStation 5 to the fans.

All information obtained about PlayStation 5 comes from press releease and also various announcements.

Then, what is the comparison between DualSense and DualShock?

Bigger, Has Two Colors

The most obvious difference from DualSense and DualShock 4 is its exterior.

Usually, sticks for PlayStation consoles always have one color (gray or black), so with the two colors on the DualSense body is a new breakthrough from Sony.

The color on the stick button also changes, following the white color of the stick.

The design itself looks more ergonomic, and speaking of buttons DualSense has buttons that are more rounded than DualShock4.

This makes DualSense glance like a stick for Xbox One.

The position of the light bar itself is moved, the origin at the top is now beside the TouchPad.

Larger and More Adaptive Batteries

Based on the PlayStation Blog discussion about DualSense, this stick has a thicker design because of the dense component parts inside.

DualSense also features adaptive triggers, where DualSense provides a variety of resilience depending on what appears in the game.

For example, if a player is pulling an arrow then it takes more power to press the button compared to pulling the trigger.

In addition, they also added another new feature, namely haptic feedback, an improved sensor technology where players can feel more clearly when passing certain textures, for example you will feel the difference when passing through muddy textures or rocky terrain.

Sony did not discuss how long the DualSense battery can last and how long the stick is full when recharged (using USB-C).

In his notes only written "need special treatment to maintain the strength of the power of the batteries."

According to Digital Trends, the battery for DualShock 4 can last eight hours without being recharged.

DualSense itself seems to have the same durability with DualShock 4 in terms of battery, but with the many new features as mentioned earlier it will definitely drain more battery power faster.

Sony itself explained that they had tried to make the "light as possible" stick while still presenting new features and a more powerful battery.

Bulit-in Microphone and Button Creative

Unlike DualShock 4, DualSense has a microphone that is embedded in the stick.

According to Sony, this feature will allow players to talk with other players.

Sony itself recommends using a headset so it doesn't drain too much battery so the players can use the stick for longer.

Sony also deleted the Share button that was previously in DualShock 4 with a new button called the "Create" button.

It is still unknown what the button's function is, but Sony promises to provide full information regarding this button in the future.

However, there is a strong suspicion that the button is similar to the Share button on DualShock 4.
