One Piece: Kaido Admits Luffy As Joy Boy?
One of the biggest puzzles that arise among One Piece fans is whether Luffy is really the reincarnation of Joy Boy.
The name Joy Boy first appeared in the Fishman Island arc, where at that time Nico Robin read a Poneglyph that was there.
The poneglyph contains an apology from someone named Joy Boy to the fish-man islanders.
Although so far we still don't know who the real Joy Boy is, where he came from, and various other information, but based on what is presented in the story, the Joy Boy figure is an important figure in the era of the lost century.
There are also many assumptions that say that Luffy is the new Joy Boy that has been waiting for so long.
In chapter 972, Kozuki Oden said that he wanted to reopen the Wano border that had been closed for hundreds of years.
Oden wants to reopen Wano's borders because he wants to pave the way for a figure who has been predicted for 800 years to appear as the reincarnation or successor of Joy Boy.
The fans themselves then assumed that the figure was Luffy.
What's interesting, however, is that Luffy isn't the only character assumed to be Joy Boy's successor.
Kaido himself also thinks that he is Joy Boy.
In fact, in chapter 1036 we saw how King believed that Kaido was the Joy Boy figure that had been predicted so far.
Until then Kaido began to change his mind, that he was not the figure of Joy Boy in question.
Since then, Kaido seems to have been waiting for the appearance of Joy Boy in Wano.
Kaido himself had suspected that Luffy was the figure of Joy Boy who would bring big changes to the world.
However, that thought had changed when Kaido managed to defeat him.
Kaido said that Luffy was also not the predicted Joy Boy, before he was thrown into the sea.
However, it seems Kaido's thinking that Luffy is not Joy Boy has changed again.
Kaido seems to have started to believe that Luffy is the long-awaited Joy Boy.
What then is the evidence of this?
At the end of chapter 1036, we look back at the fight between Kaido and Luffy.
In that moment we see how both of them exerted all their abilities, until both were thrown from their place.
What's interesting is that both of them then laugh at each other and say that the fight is getting more exciting and challenging.
There is a change in the expression of Kaido's face and eyes.
Kaido's eyes seemed brighter than before.
And how Kaido's expression when he laughs makes Kaido look similar to his figure when he was young, in a flashback moment in that chapter.
There is a theory that says that what happened at that moment could mean that Kaido was finally happy, that he could fight against the person who was believed to be the reincarnated figure of Joy Boy and realized what he was lacking.
This means that Kaido is starting to admit (or has already admitted) that Luffy is the Joy Boy predicted hundreds of years ago.
Although this is still just a theory and there is no official confirmation, at least this can be another clue regarding the puzzle of who the next Joy Boy reincarnation figure is and whether Luffy is the Joy Boy figure.
Kaido himself always tried to be killed at the hands of Joy Boy, and seeing how Kaido laughed in the fight against Luffy, Kaido might finally be calm and happy when he was defeated by Luffy just as Katakuri was happy to be defeated by Luffy.
