The final episode of SBS's drama "Taxi Driver 2" aired on Saturday (15/4/2023) and provided a satisfying ending.
The episode covered the fate of On Ha Joon and the future activities of Kim Do Ki and the Rainbow Taxi team.
Here's an explanation of the ending of Taxi Driver 2 (2023) – warning, spoilers ahead!
1. Kim So Yeon's cameo to save Kim Do Ki and the Rainbow Taxi team
Bishop Park Ho San orders his subordinates to kill Kim Do Ki and the Rainbow Taxi team.
However, before meeting On Ha Joon in prison, Jang Sung Chul had prepared a backup plan.
Just as the Rainbow Taxi team is about to be shot by the police, a luxury taxi suddenly enters the area.
The driver of the first Rainbow Taxi, Kim So Yeon, emerges from the car and shoots the police and Bishop Park's subordinates.
Kim Do Ki had heard stories about Kim So Yeon being a legendary taxi driver and was surprised to find out she is still working as a driver.
Perhaps she is still a taxi driver, just like Kim Do Ki.
2. On Ha Joon's redemption and becoming a client of the luxury taxi
On Ha Joon finally learns that he has been a victim of kidnapping.
Bishop Park had brainwashed him into killing his own father.
Meanwhile, Bishop Park tries to shift all the blame onto On Ha Joon and pretends to want to become a client of Rainbow Taxi.
He asks Kim Do Ki to return to his original name, Kim Dan Woo.
On Ha Joon regrets his past actions and thinks it would have been better if he had met the Rainbow Taxi team before Bishop Park.
3. Unfortunately, On Ha Joon becomes the sacrificial lamb
Unfortunately, On Ha Joon chooses to sacrifice himself.
Seeing his protege looking defeated, Bishop Park plans to kill Kim Do Ki with his own hands.
However, On Ha Joon takes the bullets meant for Kim Do Ki and tackles Bishop Park, and both fall from the rooftop.
On Ha Joon dies happy knowing his real name and past.
His final memory is of the kindness shown by the Rainbow Taxi team.
4. Bishop Park's fate and his followers
After falling from the rooftop, Bishop Park does not survive.
His followers are confused and try to escape from their base.
However, Choi Kyung Koo and Park Ji Eon close the entrance and throw gas, causing them to pass out.
The Rainbow Taxi team then locks them up in the prison room.
It turns out that Bishop Park had been using the Ministry of Justice's facilities as their headquarters.
The head guard and his subordinates are also locked up with them. How long will they remain there?
Will any of them wake up?
5. Is Ahn Go Eun starting to dare to confess her feelings to Kim Do Ki?
One year has passed, and Ahn Go Eun (Pyo Ye Jin) has finally been able to move to a unit below Kim Do Ki's residence.
In the scene, Kim Do Ki approached Ahn Go Eun, who was enjoying a beer at night.
At first, Ahn Go Eun said that 30 cm was the distance that should be maintained if you want to be close to someone.
According to her, more than 30 cm would make them indifferent to each other, while less than that would make them uncomfortable with each other.
Kim Do Ki replied by saying that Ahn Go Eun actually moved after living more than 30 cm away from him.
Unexpectedly, Ahn Go Eun said that she felt comfortable and not afraid when standing less than 30 cm away from her senior.
Ahn Go Eun's words seemed to suggest a statement about her feelings towards Kim Do Ki.
Surprised at first, Kim Do Ki chose to smile and enjoy their moment together.
6. Choi Kyung Koo, Park Ji Eon, and Jang Sung Chul still survive until the end
The other members of the Rainbow Taxi team also survive until the end.
The absurd behavior of Choi Kyung Koo and Park Ji Eon remains unchanged.
Mr. Jang still heads the taxi company and the Rainbow Taxi team.
They continue to work together to solve various cases even though one year has passed.
7. Moon Chae Won cameos as a Rainbow Taxi client one year later?
Towards the end, Kim Do Ki appeared to enter the 29th Infantry Division military base.
He introduced himself as part of the inspection team to his superiors.
It seems that Kim Do Ki and the Rainbow Taxi team received a case involving the late Sergeant Hwang Se Ri, who was sexually harassed.
After reporting it to the authorities, she was later reported to have committed suicide.
In another scene, the higher-ups who appear to be behind the case are shown.
They indicate that they are not reluctant to kill again to cover up the case.
After reporting to his superiors, Kim Do Ki encounters Moon Chae Won as a cameo.
She is likely the client in this case.
She also has a past with Kim Do Ki, seeing the interaction of the Luxury Taxi driver who is indifferent to her.
