One Piece: Explanation of the New Devil Fruit, Susu Susu No Mi!
Eiichiro Oda introduces a new devil fruit in the latest One Piece story, Susu Susu no Mi.
This is a devil fruit which is owned by one of the commanders of the Revolutionary Army, Karasu.
Karasu is one of the commanders of the Revolutionary Army based in the northern region. It is known he is also a target of the navy.
This is evident from the value of his hunt which reached 400 million Belly.
This is the second highest bounty figure among the other Commanders of the Revolutionary Army.
The power of Karasu's devil fruit was once a big mystery.
However, finally, the mystery was revealed in chapter 1083 where it was discovered that the name of the devil fruit he has is Susu Susu no Mi.
Explanation of Susu Susu No Mi
Many think that this devil fruit is in the Paramecia category, but many also believe that this devil fruit is Logia.
What's interesting is that Oda Sensei then explained more about this devil fruit.
Susu Susu no Mi actually doesn't make Karasu capable of being able to summon crows.
This devil fruit actually allows Karasu to turn into soot or a kind of residue from combustion.
This is the reason why later when he was in Mary Geoise the bullets fired by Cipher Pol agents had absolutely no effect.
His body was actually not injured because the bullet penetrated Karasu's body. He is also able to change forms similar to smoke and infiltrate among Cipher Pol agents.
So, basically, this devil fruit allows Karasu to manipulate carbon particles that aren't burned and remain as those particles.
Depending on how you will present or play this power in the story, this devil fruit can definitely be a valuable asset for the Revolutionary Army.
So far, Karasu hasn't shown much with his devil fruit, other than how he is able to form a crow or a group of crows and communicate through them.
How Strong is his Devil Fruit
You could say this devil fruit can be very deadly. We can see this in several moments.
For example, in the Dressrosa arc, Karasu was shown to be able to take advantage of the group of crows he created to carry Sabo away to Baltigo.
Then, in Lulusia, Karasu also showed some of his abilities when he fought against the Pinkbeard pirate group.
He again used crows to attack the pirate group.
However, it was only in chapter 1083 that we finally found out the true power of this devil fruit.
In chapter 1083, it is shown that Karasu is able to use his unique devil fruit abilities, where he is able to form clothes or armor from particles or soot.
He then ordered the army of crows to attack the others.
Karasu can also scatter the black particles and create a large spear. So, able to face many enemies at once.
What's also extraordinary is that when Karasu later commands many crows with their respective missions, he can supervise all of them at one time.
That is, the multitasking power of this devil fruit is extraordinary.
In essence, the use of this devil fruit is extraordinary which makes Karasu able to face Admiral Fujitora.
Enter New Type
It is still unknown whether his devil fruit is Paramecia or Logia – or even Zoan.
Even though it was introduced in chapter 1083, the discussion regarding this devil fruit is still not over.
If you see how Karasu was unable to be shot by the Cipher Pol troop's bullets, where the bullets even penetrated his body, then it seems we can draw a conclusion that his devil fruit is not in Paramecia.
Or maybe his devil fruit is in the Paramecia Special category like the Mochi Mochi no Mi.
On the other hand, if this devil fruit is included in the Logia type, this is also questionable.
This is because so far, in One Piece stories, Logia users have always been closely related to natural elements or materials.
For example, lava, fire, darkness, swamp, and so on. Users tend to "transform" into these elements.
If so, Susu Susu no Mi might not be included in the Logia type.
Besides maybe being included in the Paramecia Special type, it could also be if this devil fruit is one or the first in a new type of devil fruit.
What is clear is that Karasu's devil fruit has a lot of extraordinary potential.
