Eiichiro Oda’s Early Work “Monsters” to Appear on Netflix
One of Eiichiro Oda’s early works, Monsters, is set to be adapted by the streaming platform Netflix as a special edition.
While many geeks may primarily recognize Eiichiro Oda as the creator of the One Piece saga, it’s worth noting that One Piece isn’t his sole creation.
Back in 1994, a few years before the launch of the One Piece series, Oda Sensei introduced a one-shot manga titled Monsters.
According to available information, Netflix plans to adapt this one-shot manga into a special episode next month.
The adaptation promises to be an exciting addition for fans.
Unfortunately, as of now, there is no specific release date for this special episode.
What’s intriguing is that Netflix has given a twist to the title of Oda’s work.
The special edition adaptation is titled MONSTERS: 103 Mercies Dragon Damnation.
The official synopsis for this special episode reads: “MONSTERS takes us back to the story of samurai Ryuma.
Years ago, a magical dragon horn was stolen, leading Ryuma into chaos caused by the horn and the appearance of the dragon in the city…”
In the original manga version, Monsters revolves around the character of samurai Ryuma, who embarks on a quest to slay a dragon.
Throughout the story, Ryuma encounters various individuals and forms alliances with them.
Interestingly, Oda previously referenced Ryuma and his tale within the One Piece narrative.
Fans may recall that Ryuma’s zombie appeared during the Thriller Bark arc, where he bestowed the sword Shusui upon Zoro.
Moreover, the one-shot manga Monsters has also left its visual mark on One Piece, particularly in character designs.
If you observe closely, the designs of characters like Luffy and Zoro bear a resemblance to Ryuma.
Some fans even speculate that Monsters could serve as a prequel to the One Piece saga, given the references embedded within its storyline.
